After an eight-year break, Scottish duo Boards of Canada returned with Tomorrow’s Harvest, a dense, cinematic album rooted in analog warmth and ominous textures. Recorded between 2005–2012 in their Hexagon Sun studio, it leans into film-score influences from the ’70s and ’80s — but with a foreboding, dystopian edge.
Thematically, it explores decay, isolation, and environmental unease — giving off a feeling of spacious but haunted landscapes.
Reviews highlight its slow build and atmospheric payoff, with Pitchfork noting the closing tracks are some of their most immersive: “still, after all this time … they own this world.”
Metacritic rates it at a strong 85, recognising its ambition and emotional depth.
