Just a shop with some wax in a world full of digital
Independent record store in Newtown, Geelong.
About us
Bad Neighbour Records lives at the heart of the humming creative hub that is Rutland Street, Geelong. Surrounded by designers, jewellers, photographers, ceramicists and more, our independent record store is tucked within the industrial walls of its sibling business, Rebecchi’s Cafe + Gift Shop.
Bad Neighbour is run by Sam, whose love for all things analogue stretches from VHS tapes to vinyl and pretty much anything that belongs in a bygone decade. He has a particular soft spot for ’80s downtown culture, NYC bodegas and delis, and underground scenes of every kind.
You can feel those influences surrounding you, as soon as you start digging through the crates: Street Fighter flashing on the arcade screen, Iggy Pop watching from a poster on the wall, and shelves lined with books, chilli oils, tinned fish and just about every flavour of Chappy’s chips on the market.
BNR has a thing for anything independent, punk, alternative or a little off-centre. Flip through the collection and you’ll find everything from new releases, to old classics and plenty of records you might not have gone looking for.
When you’re done digging through the (virtual) crates, check out Liner Notes for music history, reviews, new releases and deep dives into the artists and scenes that excite us. Or tune into our monthly BNR Radio playlist for whatever we’ve been spinning on high rotation lately.
Better yet, come see us in person. We’ve always got something brewing in-store, from launch parties and record fairs to music trivia nights and more. See what’s on →
