Dune Rats – If It Sucks, Turn it Up

Dune Rats hit hard on their fifth studio album If It Sucks, Turn It Up, released 2024. What starts as a cheeky dig at themselves turns into a surprisingly ambitious surf‑punk ride — the band says they aimed for something that “throws you around … like you are being washed around in the surf.”

Musically, the record is a mix: there’s brash punk (“If It Sucks, Turn It Up”), introspective indie-pop (“Solar Eyes”), tongue-in-cheek satire (“Rich Kid Rehab”), and heartfelt camaraderie in the closing track, “Beers, Bongs & Bullshit.

It posses humour and musical reach, with a little electro sugar rush and 90s-style pop-punk influence.
