About Us: Bad Neighbour Records
Share
Bad Neighbour Records began as a small weekend pop-up, run by owner Sam Zaid, whose love for all things analogue stretches from VHS tapes to vinyl and just about anything that belongs in a bygone decade. Sam has a particular soft spot for 80s downtown culture, small neighbourhood shops, music history, and the kind of underground scenes that shaped entire generations. You can feel those influences throughout BNR’s brick-and-mortar: a lived-in, character-filled energy where discovery is part of the experience.
The pop-up eventually grew into a permanent store, now sitting alongside its sibling business, Rebecchi’s Café. Bad Neighbour Records → (Toadfish) Rebecchi… IYKYK.
Music-wise, Sam’s taste leans toward anything independent, punk, alternative, or a bit off-centre. If it’s interesting, unusual, or has a story behind it, he’s into it. And if you’ve ever been on the receiving end of one of his passionate spiels about an obscure artist or an overlooked album, you know exactly what we mean.
Today, Bad Neighbour is a space for crate diggers, casual listeners, and anyone who enjoys discovering something new (or old). Our shelves carry a rotating mix of new and used vinyl, shaped as much by the local community as by Sam’s ever-growing list of musical obsessions.
